Hotmail & Live Outlook 2007 Profile
In previous versions of Outlook prior to 2007 it wasn’t possible to send and receive emails locally via a mail client. That is because Hotmail.com emails use a HTTP server protocol. Where as most ISPs and internet email services use POP3 and SMTP. With the new live.com email extension it is possible to set up a pop3 / smtp email account in outlook.
Live.com Email address setup in outlook is rather simple. Below is the step by step process.
Outlook 2007 > Tools > Account Settings > Email [Tab] > Select New
Select – Microsoft Exchange, Pop3, IMAP, or HTTP
Select Internet Email on the next screen then select Next.
Type your Name, Email, Account Type – POP3, Incoming Mail Server – pop3.live.com, Outgoing Mail Server – smtp.live.com, Username – email@live.com, Password – Your Password, Select Require Logon using secure authentication. Once completed click test setttings – It should successfully complete.
Once the account windows has the green ticks select close. Then next and then finally Finish!
That’s it for setting up Microsoft Outlook 2007 with live.com.
